What does the course involve?
Learners must achieve all of the mandatory units:
- Unit 01 Understand children and young people's mental health in context
- Unit 02 Understand factors which may affect children and young people's mental health
- Unit 03 Understand children and young people's mental health concerns
- Unit 04 Understand the impact of children and young people's mental health concerns
- Unit 05 Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns -
How is the course assessed?
To pass this qualification learners are required to complete 5 mandatory units with a formal assessment completed at the end of each module and submitted to us for marking.

This course aims to increase candidates’ knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health. They will explore the factors that make an individual more vulnerable to developing mental ill health as well as the factors that can protect their well-being. They will look at how the care, compassion and vigilance of others can support children and young people to bounce back from setbacks and successfully deal with the challenges they may face during their childhood and teenage years.
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:
- Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health
- Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (England)
- Level 3 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
You will study this course online via the e-assessor learning portal. Our support staff and assessors are on hand to guide and help you throughout your qualification.
All materials comprise of a set of high-quality activity workbooks. These materials have been officially endorsed by the relevant awarding organisation as meeting the requirements of the qualifications.
