Eligibility for FREE Level 2 Distance Learning Courses:

  • Be resident in England and live in a postcode area that is eligible for funding
  • Learners must be aged 19 years or over as of the current academic year
  • Have a Full Level 2 qualification if aged 19-23 (subject to a ULN check being undertaken)
  • Have lived in the EU for the last three years
  • How much does it cost?

    This course is currently being offered free of charge. If, however, the learner withdraws early without completing the course, a charge may be incurred to cover the cost of the course materials.

  • Who is it for?

    This qualification is designed for learners looking to start work in, or already working in, health and social care, who would like an understanding of common health conditions and their effects on individuals. The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for further training and to support a role in the workplace where the individual may work or interact with those experiencing different health conditions, aiming to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of:

    • various common health conditions
    • monitoring the health of individuals affected by health conditions.
  • Entry Requirements

    There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification in a health or social care related area.

  • What does the course involve?

    To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Common Health Conditions, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the following units.

    Module A      Unit 1 Arthritis awareness
                          Unit 2 Stroke awareness

    Module B      Unit 3 Dementia awareness
                          Unit 4 Parkinson’s disease awareness

    Module C     Unit 5 Sensory loss awareness
                          Unit 6 Understand how to contribute to monitoring the health of individuals affected by health conditions

  • How is the course assessed?

    The Level 2 Certificate in Common Health Conditions is internally assessed.  You are required to successfully complete six units.

  • Further Information

    Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to additional qualifications to gain a more in-depth understanding of specific health conditions:-

    • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
    • Level 2 or 3 Certificate for Working in the Health Sector
    • Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care
    • Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management
    • Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Principles of Dementia Care
    • Apprenticeships in Health and Social Care

     

    You can study this course online via the e-assessor learning portal or work from a paper-based resource pack and submit your assessments for marking by word document or handwritten. Our support staff and assessors are on hand to guide and help you throughout your qualification.

    All materials comprise of high-quality activity workbooks. These materials have been officially endorsed by the relevant awarding organisation as meeting the requirements of the qualifications. Learners will be provided with all the necessary workbooks to complete the programme and will have the opportunity to work through a series of reflective tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and test their knowledge.
