Vocational Music Awards 2025: A visit from The Charlatans!
Before breaking up for the summer, our Music department celebrated the achievements of our vocational students. An awards ceremony with a BBQ and live music in the sun - it was the perfect end to term. Our London Road Campus looked stunning with the flowers in bloom! Thank you to our student performers who dazzled the crowd of friends, family and staff.
The evening's highlight was our presentation of the Jon Brookes Award for Endeavour, an accolade that honours outstanding commitment and perseverance in music. This year, the award was presented by none other than Martin Blunt, bassist of the legendary band The Charlatans. Martin took time out of the studio to present the award named in honour of his late band mate, who was a great supporter of our music department. It was an incredibly heartwarming moment, albeit a little delayed as our unsuspecting recipient, Andrew Laird, was nowhere to be seen! Andrew wasn't expecting the award in the slightest which made it all the more special celebrating his contributions to Music at SCG.
We'd like to say a huge well done to all awardees, your hard work doesn't go unnoticed, keep smashing it! We're so excited to see where the music industry takes you next.
