Shrewsbury College Engineering Students and Desoutter Tools

Shrewsbury College was delighted to welcome representatives from global industrial assembly solutions leader Desoutter Tools to the London Road Campus on Tuesday, 9 June, offering students a valuable opportunity to gain insight into engineering and advanced manufacturing.

Desoutter Tools, an internationally recognised specialist in assembly and drilling solutions for industries such as automotive and aerospace, visited the College to engage directly with students studying engineering and related technical disciplines. The visit forms part of the College’s ongoing commitment to strengthening links with industry and to ensuring students develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required for successful careers.

During the visit, students took part in interactive sessions, including demonstrations of industry-standard equipment, discussions on emerging technologies, and practical insights into career pathways in modern engineering environments. The Desoutter team also shared their experiences of working in a global engineering business, highlighting the importance of innovation, digitalisation and sustainability in the sector.

The session provided a unique opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with real-world applications, bringing their studies to life and deepening their understanding of employer expectations.
