A Day to Remember: Celebrating Our DFN Project Search Graduates
Friday was a truly inspiring day as we celebrated the achievements of our DFN Project Search graduates at the historic Shrewsbury Abbey!
This one-year supported internship programme is designed for young people aged 18 - 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It helps them develop life-changing skills, gain work experience, and build confidence for the future.
We work closely with Enable Shropshire to deliver this programme at Shrewsbury Hospital and RAF Cosford, and we’re excited to be launching a brand new programme next year at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital!
"It helped me because I felt lost before I started the DFN Project Search. I felt like I needed more friends and I really enjoyed fitting in as a team!" - Charlie "Chaz" Thomas, DFN Project Search
DFN Project Search is more than just an internship; it’s a chance to grow, explore, and get ready for the world of work. Each student takes on real roles in real workplaces, supported by a dedicated team of job coaches and mentors who help them every step of the way. Many started the year feeling nervous and unsure of themselves. Now, they speak with pride. It was so special to hear stories from the students, reciting how the programme has helped them learn, build friendships, and believe in their own abilities. We couldn’t be more proud if we tried; their dedication and personal growth were evident to everyone in the room.
Our Head of Additional Learning, Ben Kovacs, would like to extend a very special thank you to Georgia, Toni, Andy, Charlotte, Barry, Jo, Debbie, Julie, Wendy, Russel and Julie from Enable. In addition to the business managers and staff from Shrewsbury Hospital and ESS Compass Group: RAF Cosford.
