  • Who is it for?

If students need support to decide on their future plans, have few or no formal qualifications, or need to build confidence before their next step, we can offer them a flexible and tailored study programme that caters for a range of interests.

  • Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements as you work at your own level. However, a literacy level of at least Entry 3 is advisable. Students must be fully committed, reliable, have good attendance and be punctual.

  • What does the course involve?

The course aims to develop students study skills and explore their vocational or job-related areas of interest. The core components of the programme include employability, study skills, vocational placements, English and Maths, and enrichment.

Students will have an opportunity to tailor a timetable to meet their needs. Throughout the programme students will have access to the Careers Team to help them develop their longer-term career plans. Students will achieve a Level 1 qualification upon completion.

  • How is the course assessed?

Students will produce a portfolio of assessed work throughout the course.

  • Additional Notes

This course is a springboard to college life. It will give students the essential skills they need to progress onto a Level 1 or 2 programme of study. Once students progress on to further study, they can choose to specialise in a vocational area, employment, a Supported Internship, or an apprenticeship of their choosing.

Flexible start dates are available on all Preparation Routes courses.

  • Further Information

We offer Taster sessions for this course, so you can get a better feel for the course, as well as providing you with an idea of what College life is like.
