ESOL Skills for Life

Our English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programme will enable students aged 16 to 18 to meet new people, broaden their cultural awareness, and improve their language skills for life and work.

Students will gain European Union-approved English language qualifications that meet UK Border Agency requirements for their visa renewal and that are recognised by thousands of educational institutions, businesses, and government departments around the world.

Students must be aged 16 or over and their English language skills will need to be assessed to determine the appropriate level of study.

Students study programme will include:
• ESOL from Entry Level 1 to Level 2
• Maths.

From Entry Level 3 upwards, students can also get a taster of a vocational area of their choice and an employability qualification.

This course will support students in developing their English and academic skills for further study and help prepare them for employment.

Assessment is done via examinations in reading, writing, and speaking/listening. 

You may enrol anytime from September to the end of February by appointment.

Previous Shrewsbury College students who have taken this study programme have gone on to study a range of Level 1 or Level 2 courses, started apprenticeships, or gone into employment.
