  • Who is it for?

If students have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are looking for support into the world of work, Shrewsbury College offer a Supported Internship course.

  • Entry Requirements

Students will need to hold an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that has been issued by their Local Authority. There are no formal academic entry requirements, as students will work at their own level, however, a literacy level of at least Entry 2 is advisable.

  • What does the course involve?

Students' study programme will include employability skills, preparation for adulthood, English and maths, work experience, and the option of other enrichment activities from the wide selection available in college. Students will study English and Maths if they do not have a Grade 4 or above, and they will attend a work placement for at least two days a week, with supported job coaching as appropriate.

Here, students will have the opportunity to complete work experience with clear objectives, regular feedback, and support in moving towards further study or work.

  • How is the course assessed?

Students will produce a folder of assessed work throughout the course as well as developing their employability skills in the workplace.

  • Additional Notes

The Supported Internship will help students build their confidence and give them the essential skills they need to take the next step in life and secure employment, an apprenticeship, or voluntary work.

  • Other Details

If you are interested in a Supported Internship in the NHS please look at our Project Search Supported Internship programme.
