Who is it for?
Throughout the weeks of this course, you will learn how the screen-printing process works from coating screens, mixing inks, artwork preparation, printing and reclaiming screens.
The focus of the first four sessions will be based on developing different ways to make images suitable for screenprint. The final two sessions will be focused on planning and developing a final screen print which you will print in the final session.

Entry Requirements
No previous knowledge is required, just a keen interest inscreen printing and to not fear getting a bit inky!Please wear old clothes.

What does the course involve?
Week 1:
Introduction to the course.
You will create some test prints to perfect your screen-printing techniques and then we will move onto Halftone Photograph Screen Printing.

Week 2:Introduction to Mono Screen Printing.
Mono Screen Printing is like painting but in Screen Print form. It is a great way to make abstract image and backgrounds for further print layers.
Week 3:
This week we will be focussing on making physical handmade collages.
Collages are a fantastic way to make interesting images and to think about layout/composition. These collages will then be converted to halftone and be printed on Week 4.

Screen printing using collage images, with the same halftone technique as Week 1.
During the second half of this session, we will be doing pen drawings. Alternatively, if you have your own Tablet with drawing capabilities this can be used (Do not worry if you think you can't draw, none of this is a test, it's about having fun). We also have prompts if you can't think of what to draw.

This week we will be screen printing your drawn designs onto T-shirts.
A small image for the front and a large image for the back.
Week 6 – 8 :
Weeks 6-8 are all about taking what you have learned from Weeks 1-4 and start planning and developing a fully-fledged design (or designs).
This is an opportunity to explore the areas you like more, experiment with mixing processes and having fun!

How is the course assessed?
No assessments. This course is very a hands-on practical introduction into screen printing methods and designed to give you the confidence to be able to continue using this technique in the future to create your own screen-printed designs onto a variety of surfaces.
The groups are small and you will receive feedback and guidance during the sessions.
