Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above to include English at Grade 4 and Maths at Grade 3; or Level 2 Diploma. Experience in performing arts or a related GCSE or BTEC Qualification. All students to take part in a group audition in September as part of induction week - to allow them to demonstrate teamwork, communication and suitability to the course.

What does the course involve?
Students will undertake units that cover a range of the main performing arts disciplines:
• Singing techniques
• Musical theatre styles
• Acting techniques
• Dance styles
• Audition practice
• Self-promotion and audition skills
• Employment planning and career opportunities.All the units covered on this course enable students to work towards live performances. When we are preparing for a production, a number of auditions take place, so a students' regular timetable becomes a rehearsal schedule, and they will be required to attend evening performances.

How is the course assessed?
Work is assessed through unit assignments, including practical classwork, development of performance skills, written analysis, and larger-scale performances which take place in Theatre Severn, the town’s arts venue. A sample of every unit is seen by an external moderator before final grades are confirmed.

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice serves as a springboard for diverse career paths. Many graduates choose to further their education by pursuing university degrees in disciplines like drama, dance, or musical theatre, while others opt for specialised training at prestigious drama schools via audition. Alternatively, the course equips students with practical skills for direct entry into the industry, opening doors to jobs such as actors, dancers, choreographers, or stage management. Some students may also explore arts administration or apprenticeships within the creative sector.

This performing arts programme delivers a robust, industry-focused experience. Highlights include pantomime performance, self-tape techniques, and an externally devised performance. Students benefit from masterclasses with professionals, alumni workshops, and two showcase performances at Theatre Severn, providing practical skills and real-world exposure.
