Introduction to Welding and Fabrication

For anyone who shows a keen interest in any form of welding and fabrication and wishes to either further develop their engineering skills to support an existing job role or as a hobby. This qualification will prepare you for a job in industry or you could progress to a more advanced programme such as the Level 1 City & Guilds Award in Introductory Welding (typically 3268-13 MIG / 3268-12 TIG / 3268-10 MMA). 

You will be given a basic level of knowledge in MIG, TIG and MMA welding processes and general metal fabrication techniques. These will comprise:

• Health and safety in a welding workshop
• Setting up and closing down procedures of welding equipment
• Basic MIG, TIG and MMA welding techniques and joints
• Basic metal forming techniques and equipment application

This is a college-certificated course and will be assessed through observation of practical tasks.

Suitable full-length welding overalls and safety boots are needed.
