Information on trusts and charities that you can apply to for financial support.

  • Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

    This is available to students whose usual address is in Wales. Students who are between 16 and 18 years of age may be entitled to Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA). You will be eligible if your household income is:

    • £23,400 per annum or less if there is one dependent child.
    • £25,974 per annum or less if there are two or more dependent children.

    Payments of up to £40 per week are paid fortnightly into the student’s bank account. You must attend all lessons to receive these payments. Full details on how to apply can be found online at Student Finance Wales, or paper application forms are available from Student Services.

    Please make your application online, if possible, with Student Finance Wales, as this will make the application process faster. The EMA scheme for students who live in England has now closed.

    If you are 19 or over, you may be able to apply for a Welsh Government Learning Grant (WGLG). You will need to apply directly to Student Finance Wales.

  • Bowdler Educational Foundation

    Students under 25 who are resident in Shropshire can apply to the Bowdler Educational Foundation for grant funding for uniforms, clothing, tools, instruments, or books to help students with their education (including social and physical training). The Bowdler Educational Foundation is separate from the college, and applications are made to the charity directly.

    Student Services can provide printed copies of the Bowdler Educational Foundation application form.

  • The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust

    We are launching a new vocational bursary scheme for students studying a vocational course at any UK college. Students can apply for a £1,000 per year bursary for their course. Students must have a household income below £30,000 and have a parent or spouse, or be employed themselves:

    • In the Grocery Industry
    • In a Community Pharmacy or as a registered Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician
    • As a Commercial Traveller
