This event is for all Shrewsbury College students, and 2025 sees our most exciting programme to date.

Shrewsbury College alumna, winner of the WomeninTech apprentice award and enthusiastic promoter of the degree apprenticeship route! Are you thinking about Degree Apprenticeships? Join Christa Bridges in this interactive session will be exploring what degree apprenticeships are and examples of industries/organisations that run them, day-to-day life as an apprentice, application processes and some tips. I'll be sharing my story as a graduated apprentice from a small/medium sized business.

NHS Finance Careers and Insights Placements
Join Gemma Park from The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust in this interactive session to find out more about this exciting opportunity. We have an exciting career opportunity to share for school and college leavers from low-income families across the Midlands. The NHS Finance Insights placement scheme – Midlands offers paid work experience in NHS organisations throughout England to individuals aged 18 and above, who do not plan to attend university and come from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We are also keen to advertise and welcome care leavers to this scheme.
The scheme aims to attract diverse talent from local communities served by the NHS into the finance sector. It provides a 12-month experience placement in an entry-level (band 2) finance role, allowing candidates to develop new skills and gain on-the-job work experience.

Shropshire Wildlife Trust – Green Careers
November sees the national celebration Green Careers Week and we are delighted to welcome Ellie Meredith from Shropshire Wildlife Trust to deliver this session exploring Green Careers:
- A focus on employability and leadership skills — such as communication, teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving
- Real-life career pathways that highlight how these skills apply in a range of industries
- Activities that build confidence and broaden students’ awareness of opportunities
- An inclusive and supportive space, with practical steps students can take now to enhance their career readiness
- While the session draws from examples in the green and sustainability sectors, its core emphasis is on helping students from all backgrounds identify their strengths and take confident steps towards their future careers.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
Join Matty Stockton and Matt Grubb to discover the range of apprenticeship opportunities with JLR.
Most of our apprenticeships will go live in February 2026, for a September 2026 start. We’re currently updating our website to reflect the programmes that will be available for applications next year. In the meantime, you can register your interest and be the first to find out when our 2026 programmes go live!

A Year in Industry – paid 12-month internships

Looking for paid gap year ideas? The EDT’s Year In Industry scheme could be just what you’re looking for. We work with STEM companies across the UK to provide placement opportunities for school and college leavers. These are paid placements and typically last for 12 months providing a full year in industry.
An EDT placement will give students an opportunity to continue their STEM journey after leaving college and take a paid gap year to help inform and shape their future career choices. They will gain invaluable experience working in industry, develop their skills and knowledge, and boost their future employability. We have vacancies with companies across many areas of STEM from leading FTSE 100 companies to small innovative start-ups.
