English Combined
A Level English Language and Literature explores the ways language is used in everyday life and in fictional texts, examining the differences between real-world speech and the voices of characters on the page or stage. Combining these two subjects develops a wide range of transferable skills, including writing, analysis, contextual understanding, and reading for meaning. Across the course, students study diverse texts—from novels and poetry to drama and biographical writing—while also completing independent research projects, enabling them to explore the power and flexibility of language in both literary and non-literary contexts.
