  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language, grade 5 or above in Maths and grade 5 or above in GCSE Chemistry, with a further GCSE science subject at grade 5 or above or at least 6:6 in GCSE Combined Science.

  • What does the course involve?

    Chemistry helps you understand the world around you. It plays a role in almost every action on earth and can help us make informed decisions, understand substances and their properties. Chemical scientists are leading research on the world's most pressing concerns, including challenges around human health, climate change, and energy. This A Level is highly valued and leads to a wide variety of careers. You'll gain the breadth of knowledge you need to pursue a career in Chemistry or go on to further study. You'll benefit from studying with highly qualified teachers and in excellent specialised teaching facilities.

    Year 1

    Studies focus on: foundations in chemistry, the periodic table and energy, core organic chemistry and practical skills in chemistry.

    Year 2

    Studies focus on: physical chemistry, the transition elements, organic chemistry, analysis and practical skills in chemistry.

  • How is the course assessed?

    100% Exam - There are three final exams as well as the practical endorsement in Chemistry.

    Support is provided for those interested in applying for Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry or Biomedical degrees including: expert speakers, UCAS admissions support, UKCAT / BMAT preparation advice, university visits, and work experience.
