Taster Events
English and Welsh Bridge campuses

Want to see what our subjects are really like? Join us for our November Taster morning and explore a range of subjects, meet the teachers, and make some new friends.

Our Academic Taster Morning will showcase:

  • A Levels
  • Extended Certificates (equivalent to one A Level and can be combined with A Levels)
  • Vocational Arts Level 2/Level 3 (equivalent to three A Levels and studied on their own)

These subjects are based across our English and Welsh Bridge campuses. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to walk from one to the other. The campus where each subject is located will be noted in brackets on the button below to help you plan your visit: English Bridge = (EB), Welsh Bridge = (WB).

Taster sessions will each be 50 minutes long, and you can build your morning timetable to suit you.

9.00-9.50am, 10.00-10.50am, 11.10-12.00noon, 12.10-1.00pm

Time has been built into the morning to allow you to swap between campuses should your subject combination take place at both. We recommend grouping your choices to allow for a change of campuses at the midpoint, where you have 20 minutes to travel to the other site, rather than 10 minutes.

Details on the specific location of the Taster, including campus, room number, things you might need to bring, will be listed on the booking page links below, as well as your booking confirmation email (sent immediately after you complete your booking) and any reminder emails we send.

You can choose up to four of the subjects below for your morning event. Some subjects will only be available in certain slots, so you might find it helpful to open each of the links below in a new window so you can compare availability and create your timetable. If there are more subjects you want to look into, you can visit our Virtual Taster Library and browse through activities for all our courses.

Booking will open at 5.00pm on 14 October with the start of our academic Open Evenings.

"Studying higher education at Shrewsbury College gave real value as the tutors’ stories about their experiences helped to contextualise course materials. Now I’m exploring a top-up year or a higher-level apprenticeship, with the goal of teaching others after gaining industry experience. My advice to new students is to stay organised, but don’t over-focus on just one area.”
