Although Shrewsbury College isn’t the closest college to me, I decided to come here because of the facilities and training opportunities on offer. Since being here I’ve been to Greece and Italy which were a great way to learn about other people’s cultures. I have been entered in to various competitions and won two silver awards at the Welsh Culinary competition. I think it’s important to take part in competitions because it challenges you and gives you the opportunity to work under pressure.
Student SuccessEvery year students enter competitions including the North West Young Chef Competition and Nestlé Toque d'Or where they regularly win awards. This year students were extremely successful at the Welsh International Culinary Champions, winning 17 medals.

I get a huge amount of satisfaction being a tutor and seeing the progression of student chefs as they develop their knowledge and skills, ready to start their careers. There’s a great amount of pride seeing a student gain a position in the catering industry or progress to more advanced qualifications.
