Students to host ‘A Night under the Stars’
Shrewsbury College students are inviting members of the public to help make a difference to the lives of terminally ill children, during a three course charity meal in aid of Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Starlight is a non-profitable UK charity, which grants terminally ill children a wish, including holidays to Disneyland and the chance to meet their idols. The Foundation also organises entertainment for over half a million children every year in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.
On Tuesday, 26, April, Shrewsbury College Business students will be hosting ‘A Night under the Stars.’ A three course charity meal, with complementary arrival drinks and a raffle, at Origins Restaurant. The event will start at 7pm and is estimated to last until 9.30pm.
Tickets cost £15 - all of which will be donated to the charity.
Sam Ford, 18, from Shrewsbury, is studying Level 3 Business at the College, he said: “We have all worked really hard for this event and we can’t wait to see everything come together on the night. We chose to organise the event for charity because we wanted to make the event for a good cause.
“We were tasked as part of our course with managing a business event. Planning everything from designing posters, arranging event location to deciding the menu and selling tickets.”
Shirley Wheeler, Business tutor at the College, said: “Through this unit students have the chance to organise a real event and take responsibility to ensure it’s a success. This is real learning and the students have done a fantastic job.”
