Business success for young Shropshire carpenter

A Shrewsbury College Bench Joinery apprentice is carving out a successful career for himself, following an announcement that he will go into partnership with his employer.

Eighteen year old Lewis Price started his apprenticeship with R&G Interiors, a local bespoke kitchen company, last September and impressed his employer so much that he was approached for a share in the business.

“I’m really excited about the partnership and the challenges that I’ll face in the future,” said Lewis. “It’s quite a responsibility, but I’m looking forward to learning on the job.”

Anthony Dargue of R&G Interiors said: “Lewis’s application stood out when we decided we were going to take on an apprentice in September. Since then he’s picked things up really quickly.”

“We hope to grow and expand the business and, when the work is there to support them, we’d like to take on more Shrewsbury College apprentices in the future.”

Stuart Raine, Assistant Head of School for Construction, said: “We are extremely proud of Lewis for the work he has put in to receive this opportunity. The College is also grateful to Mr Dargue for recognising the value of apprentices in the development of his workforce.”
