  • Who is it for?

    The course prepares students for entry into the uniformed services and progression to our Level 3 course.  Students will learn the essential skills for a wide range of careers from the armed forces to the police, prison and fire services.

  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of three GCSEs at Grade 3 or above and to be prepared to actively participate in all classroom, physical fitness, and outdoor activities

  • What does the course involve?

    There is an emphasis on discipline, physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development. In addition, students will complete assignments which will develop their academic writing to progress to Level 3. Units studied include:

    • Investigating employment
    • Physical fitness
    • Public service routine
    • Teamwork
    • Map reading

     

    Course highlights

    Our expert teachers will provide students with opportunities to participate in a range of practical and theory-based activities, such as an army residential visit, recruitment theory testing, armed forces training days and competitions, and access to external providers from the blue light services.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Students will be assessed through both written and practical assignments. Knowledge, understanding, and the application of work-related skills are continually assessed in a variety of ways.

  • Additional Notes

    Progression in Uniformed Services Level 2 Diploma

    After the successful completion of this course, students can progress to Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Services, where they will continue to build up an extensive knowledge of the critical skills needed for public duty. Progression from L2 to L3 requires students to achieve a distinction grade on their L2 course. Alternatively, direct entry into a career in the public services is available.

Where can it take me?

Police officers (sergeant and below)

Police officers (Sergeant and below) co-ordinate and undertake the investigation of crimes, patrol public areas, arrest offenders and suspects and enforce law and order. Officers of the British Transport Police operate within the specialised police service for the railway network across Britain.
