Whether you are looking to become a music producer, sound engineer, or professional musician our courses are designed to provide both practical and industry-focused skills.

Our A Level Music course develops practical skills in performing and composing, as well as a deeper understanding of music history, theory and analysis. Through listening to and studying a wide variety of music, both classical and popular, you will develop a more informed appreciation of how and why it was written.

The Level 2 and 3 Music Diplomas offer two pathways with one focusing on production and sound engineering and a second focusing on rehearsal, instrumental skills development, and performance. Many staff continue to be active in the music industry as remix artists, sound editors and producers. Specialist facilities at the London Road Campus include three dedicated recording studios and a specialist production suite. The courses are enhanced by regular guest lectures and trips.

Throughout the year, there are many opportunities to get involved in music either as an individual performer or as part of an ensemble, band, chamber group, choir, crew, or tech team.

Instrumentalists and serious vocalists interested in performing in any of our main ensembles are welcome to sign up for our Music Activities Programme. Existing groups include a choir, concert band, orchestra, big band, chamber orchestra, rock bands, folk band, and string quartet. Performance opportunities include the Christmas concert, our Celebrating Student Achievement Awards evening, a Bands’ Night, and our Graduation Ceremony.
