English Language
A Level English is an engaging and dynamic subject that develops analytical thinking, communication, and critical writing skills, providing a strong foundation for higher education and a wide range of career paths. This course explores how language works—from how we acquire it in infancy to its social functions, historical evolution, and global spread—while examining key issues such as accents, dialects, gender, and the language of technology. Students study a variety of texts, learning to analyse and interpret meaning, and complete an independent coursework project that combines creative writing with research, allowing them to explore an area of personal interest within the study of English.
