If you are a dynamic, focused individual with a passion for creativity and entertaining, then the impressive range of Performing Arts and Musical Theatre courses at Shrewsbury College can help you realise your ambitions.

Our highly practical and intensive courses include Level 2 and 3 and HNC/HND Performing Arts (Performance). They are enhanced through a balance of the three main disciplines of dance, acting and singing.

You will develop a real feel for the Performing Arts industry through regular workshops from professionals and performances each term at professional venues.

Our tutors are professionals who still work within the industry, providing help to achieve your goals in an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding atmosphere, developing your skills along the way. 

Our part-time BTEC Certificate in Dance is aimed at anyone with an interest in developing their dance technique or for existing performing arts students looking to specialise in dance.

When you progress from Shrewsbury College you will be ready to continue study at a higher level or start one of many fascinating careers the performing arts industry offers, in areas such as acting, dancing, direction, production, stage management, choreography, costume and set design.

Student Success

Students regularly put on sell-out musical productions at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn and have been involved in filming for ITV on the production of Home Fires.

Past Students

Many students have gained places at prestigious drama schools including Mount View, Arts Ed, MTA, and RADA or progressed to university to study drama, musical theatre and dance. Career opportunities include acting, musical theatre, scriptwriting, directing, production, stage-management, circus skills, choreography, costume and set design. Past students can be seen in West End productions, including CATS, Wizard of Oz, Saturday Night Fever and The Threepenny Opera or gone on to set up professional theatre companies.

  • Lighting Technician £15,000 - £40,000
  • Community Arts Worker £16,000 - £28,000

You could move on to be an:

  • Entertainment Agent £15,000- £100,000
  • Dance Teacher £22,000 - £50,000
