Public Services students receive body armour donation

Students at Shrewsbury College will now be able to explore what wearing and working with body armour is really like after the donation of a bullet proof vest.

SafeGuard Clothing has gifted one of its premium bullet proof vests for demonstrations on the importance of safety and protecting the lives of law enforcement and military operatives.

Jackie Swan, Curriculum Lead for Public Services at Shrewsbury College, said: “The use of the bullet proof vest in our Public Services classes will demonstrate the working mechanics behind staying safe in a line of work that involves daily risks – something of great benefit to students, who wish to pursue a career in the field of military, law enforcement or security.

“This will enhance the students teaching and learning experience, allowing them to receive and benefit from a deeper understanding of the design and structure of tactical armour.

SafeGuard Clothing Communications Manager Thomas Bowman, said: "We have made it a priority to partner with local colleges, such as Shrewsbury College, to assist their students in understanding how protection against knives and guns works and better prepare them for the line of work they have chosen. We work very hard to implement an applied industry-based model in our manufacturing process. Our continuing and strong collaborations with the Police, MOD, Fire Service and Ambulance services have really enhanced the quality of our tactical vests.”

Known for its strong commitment to high industry standards and innovative development, the brand seeks to establish long-lasting partnerships with local colleges in an attempt to promote awareness to students about industry best practices, safety equipment standards and mechanics.

“This corporate and social responsibility sets a positive example and creates vital learning opportunities for the students at Shrewsbury College,” added Mr Bowman.
