Staff and students from Shrewsbury College and Shrewsbury Sixth Form College, including those who have served in the armed forces, have been marking the centenary of the start of the First World War, by replicating the Tower of London’s poignant poppy display from 2014.

A sea of specially-made poppies cascading out of the college building on an army net, can be seen dominating the College’s courtyard.

Departments at all three Shrewsbury College Group Campuses have taken part, to pay tribute to all the men and women who have lost their lives serving their country.

As part of tutorial during the week, many students were asked to remember a member of the British Armed Forces by placing a poppy outside and writing a tribute onto the memorial board that is placed inside reception.
