College teams up with Crossbar Coaching

Shrewsbury College has joined forces with Shropshire sports coaching company, Crossbar Coaching, to deliver a programme of new and exciting industry-recognised football qualifications.

From September 2013, Level 2 Sport students at the College will be able to complete six specialist qualifications alongside their BTEC award.

Crossbar's Coaching Director, Gavin Cowan, explained: "Nationally recognised FA coach educators will lead the football qualifications and support Shrewsbury College's team of experienced Sport tutors in shaping the core elements of study."

"Students will be encouraged to support Crossbar's existing coaching programmes in the community in order to gain invaluable work experience.  They will also have the opportunity to hear from inspirational guest speakers such as the London 2012 Paralympians."

Dependent on personal progression and achievement, those studying the course will be in the running for a full time coaching role with Crossbar Coaching and will work in schools throughout the county.

"This is an exciting development for the College," said Shrewsbury College Curriculum Leader for Hair, Therapies, Sports & Public Services, Jackie Swan. "Not only does the partnership help Crossbar Coaching to respond to their future work force requirements, it will also allow students on the course to see work life in practice."

Will the course be available also in an evening course as an option?

Miles Porton

Hi Lee, unfortunately not. If you contact Gavin at Crossbar Coaching, he may be able to recommend a suitable course.
