Entry requirements

No previous knowledge is required just a keen interest in Ceramics. Full demonstrations and guidance will be given by tutor.

What does the course involve?

This is a fun 6 week introduction into Ceramics.

It is designed to develop the basic skill of slab building in clay and surface pattern decoration.

You will construct and glaze a "Tea set" of your own design and explore surface decoration using coloured slips.

It will consist of; a teapot, cups and saucers or mugs and a sugar bowl and jug

Additional qualification

You may wish to progress to one of our Art and Design courses at either level 2 or level 3.

Additional costs

Clay will be charged at pre-fired weight per piece. This includes all firings and glaze.

Additional notes

An apron, towel, small bucket with handle will be required. Suitable clothing and footwear to be worn during all sessions.

Some of our courses may have entry qualifications and you may need to have an informal chat with the tutor to check it is appropriate for you - this will be clear in the Other Details area. You are able to enrol at the College in person or by phone on 01743 342333 between 9.00am-5.00pm Monday - Thursday and 9.00am-4.30pm on Friday. You can also enrol and chat to staff at our advice / enrolment events which happen throughout the year or use our Live Chat.

You will be required to pay your course fees at the time of enrolment, so please ensure that you bring an appropriate payment method with you, (as well as appropriate evidence if you are eligible to have any fees waived).
