Entry requirements

This course runs at our English Bridge Campus.

No previous knowledge is required, just a keen interest in all things floral.

Who is it for?

This course is for anyone interested in Floral Design. It covers a wide range of skills in contemporary and traditional flower arrangements and design. Idea for anyone from complete beginners to those wishing to further develop their knowledge and skills. It offers an initial grounding on all aspects of floristry to progress to further levels.

What does the course involve?

The sessions will be a mix of practical and theory based work. They will include all aspects of practical skills and techniques to produce work to a sellable standard. A strong emphasis will be put on floral design and full tutor guidance given throughout. The units will cover:- Identification and processing of cut materials and pot plants;

Design and construction of floral arrangements;

Storage, display and wrapping of floristry goods;

Handtied and Loose bouquets;

Simple floral wedding designs and accessories;

Basic introduction to Funeral and sympathy floral designs;

Buying, costing and Health and Safety;

Display of floristry designs.

How is the course assessed?

No formal assessment, group discussions and individual tutor feedback will be given to develop and enhance progression over the course.

Additional costs

Purchase of flowers for each module - this will be discussed with the tutor upon start of course, this can be arranged by the tutor or individually. Basic floristry items.

Additional notes

Apron required. Basic tools and equipment will initially be provided by tutor. Advice on where to purchase additional materials will be given.
