Who is it for?

An exciting programme of joinery and carpentry to build on the skills already learnt in the introductory course, students will be encouraged and supported to make and build projects of their choice. No previous experience is necessary just a desire to learn a 'hands on' skill. Having gained the basic knowledge of carpentry and joinery practices, you could aim for a qualification in the trade and apply for the part time City & Guilds Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery at level 1.

What does the course involve?

The course will be workshop based with tools and materials provided. Training on power tools and workshop equipment will be given as necessary. You will work on a project of your choice learning the skills required to create wooden frames, shelves, doors or units or items for the home such as toy boxes, jewellery boxes or bird-boxes all with expert guidance. More ambitious projects can be discussed with the course tutor at the start of the course.

Additional notes

Please equip yourself with suitable clothing including sturdy footwear, a pencil and a measuring tape.
