Entry requirements

You will hold a Level 1 in Hairdressing or 4 GCSEs at a grade D (3) or above. You are expected to demonstrate a high level of interest in this industry and hold excellent communications skills. Exceptional personal presentation is also mandatory.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for student stylists who hold a Level 1 in Hairdressing or 4 GCSEs at grade D (3) or above. This qualification will provide a progression route to the Level 3 Hairdressing or an Advanced Apprenticeship.

What does the course involve?

This course consists of a mixture of theory and practical lessons. You will demonstrate shampooing and conditioning, blow drying, setting and styling, hair up, cutting and colouring, as well as the skills needed to consult with clients. These services will be carried out in our commercial training academy.

How is the course assessed?

You will be required to sit an end of year practical and theory exam.
*Due to changes in qualification standards students will be required to undertake a synoptic practical assessment and an external marked theory exam.

Additional costs

It is an expectation of professional practice to wear a uniform whilst attending salon sessions. It is advisable to purchase a kit to allow you to practise skills in and out of College. Trips and excursions are available at an additional cost: Various trips and visits including the Clothes Show, a European visit and 'In House' Competition take place every year. You will also be given the opportunity to visit the Fudge academy in Stockport and the Wella Academy in Manchester.
