Entry requirements

A good practical and logical outlook would be a distinct advantage, along with Grade C (4) or above in Maths, English and Science. In addition all candidates will be expected to pass lead body initial assessment at 60%.

Who is it for?

The programme is designed to give candidates a thorough knowledge of plumbing practical and theory. It is aimed at individuals who wish to take the first steps towards a Technical Certificate in plumbing. Progress to apprenticeship or NVQ dependent upon employment status or, progress to a Level 3 technical certificate.

Vocational Units:

  • Health and safety at work
  • Cold water systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Sanitation/drainage
  • Basic heating systems
  • Electrical safety
  • Common plumbing processes
  • Scientific principles
  • Communication
  • How is the course assessed?

    9 externally set City and Guilds assessments (one on each of the topics above). Plus continually monitored practical assessments, culminating in two final practical assessments: Bathroom installation and Airing cupboard installation.

    Additional costs

    Students will be expected to provide their own overalls and safety shoes.
