Entry requirements

You will need to have completed the Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying. You will also need to have a successful interview with the tutor. Applicants will be required to take the CITB assessment paper.

Who is it for?

This programme is designed to give the student broad knowledge and understanding of the Construction Industry and to provide the technical skills training to achieve a level 2 Diploma in Brickwork. Progression from the Diploma would be to the NVQ Level 2 as an apprentice or the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying subject to good results at Level 2.

What does the course involve?

Vocational Units: (All units are mandatory):

Carry out safe working practices in construction;

Information, quantities & communicating with others;

Building methods & construction technology;

Interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures;

Thin joint masonry & masonry cladding;

Build solid walling, isolated & attached piers;

Build cavity walling forming masonry structures.

Additional Study: Functional Skills in English; Functional Skills in Maths; Tutorial.

How is the course assessed?

Your work will be assessed continually through the course, each unit has a number of assessment tasks and an end test that you will be required to complete in order to successfully achieve the Diploma.

Additional costs

You will be expected to provide your own overalls, safety shoes and contribute to the cost of any additional enrichment activities.

If you are aged 19 or over tuition fees may be payable on enrolment plus materials fees.
