Telford AM2 Test Centre
Our AM2 centre has now been formally recognised by the national authorising body and is able to offer the test to industry and other colleges.
All Electrical Apprentices must complete the test before they can qualify. It has been described as "the final piece of the electrical NVQ level 3 jigsaw" and involves a practical building exercise and inspection and testing of the work, plus proving competence at fault finding and rectification.
AM2 Revision (preparation for the AM2 test)
About the course:
In order to prepare candidates for the AM2 we provide a 2 day refresher course which candidates undertake prior to their test.
Topics include:
- safe isolation
- conduit
- SWA
- lighting circuits
- testing and fault finding
- MICC
Entry requirements:
Candidates should possess the basic underpinning knowledge and practical skills in all of the assessment areas specified.
AM2 Test
About the course:
The Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) test is an essential part of an electrical Advanced Apprenticeship and is part of the City & Guilds 2356 NVQ 3. The full test is over 3 days and covers a range of tasks including installation, inspection & testing, and fault diagnosis & rectification.
Topics include:
- composite installation
- visual inspection
- functional operation
- inspection & testing of the composite installation
- safe isolation of test unit (including risk assessment)
- safe isolation of supplies
- fault diagnosis
- fault rectification
Entry requirements:
A basic knowledge of electrical equipment is required.
