Childcare

Would you like to work in a sector which is consistently ranked highly for job satisfaction?

Do you want the reward of influencing the learning and development of young people and helping shape their lives?

Within childcare there are a variety of employment opportunities in the statutory, private or voluntary sectors, allowing you to fulfil your passion in giving children the best possible start in life.

We’ll help you start a career in childcare, regardless of your qualifications, whether you aspire to be a nanny, maternity nurse, child minder, nursery worker or au pair. The courses will cover all essential areas of childcare, including the role of the early years practitioner, legislation relating to children’s welfare the supporting children’s play and their development.

At Shrewsbury College you will be able to progress through the course levels, where at Level 3 you will gain valuable work experience needed for your first job or the credits needed for university.

Our classes demonstrate the trend of more males entering the industry, challenging stereotypes and demonstrating gender equality to young children. There are also part-time courses available, leading to qualifications in this sector for those who have other commitments.
