There are no formal entry requirements. An interest in wider reading and writing is desirable. Who is it for?/What can I do after this course? This course is for you if you wish to develop your creative writing. You will investigate a range of techniques, a wide range of texts, literary critique and develop your skills of evaluation.
What does the course involve?
You will investigate a range of literary techniques, including: sensory imagery, genre, character development, realistic dialogue, plot and structure, through evaluating a diverse collection of texts, including your own writings. This course will also consider literary critique and build skills of evaluation. The course topics are 'revisiting familiar things' and 'writing from experience' and are designed to be flexible enough to accommodate individual writing styles and preferences whilst providing a challenge
How is the course assessed?
There are no formal assessments. However, the course will be assessed formatively throughout and the course aim is that you will produce pieces of writing for each course topic.

What do I do next?
There is no requirement to complete an application form for part-time courses. Some of our more advanced courses may have a minimum qualification for entry and you may need to have an informal chat with the tutor to check it is appropriate for your needs - this will be clear in the key information listed for each course. Most of our part-time courses do not have any specific entry requirements and in these instances you are able to enrol in person or by phone between 9.00am-5.00pm Monday - Thursday and 9.00am-4.30pm on Friday. You can also attend an advice/enrolment event which happen throughout the year and details of the next event can be found on the homepage of the website. Attending an event will allow you to chat to staff and enrol. You will be required to pay your course fees at the time of enrolment, so please ensure that you bring an appropriate payment method with you, (as well as appropriate evidence if you are eligible to have any fees waived).
