Working in partnership with schools in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and across the border into Powys the Shrewsbury College School Liaison team are committed to supporting all young people with their transition from school to college.

Taster Sessions - Years 9, 10 and 11
Taster days and twilight sessions in College allow students to experience a subject that they are interested in before they make their final decision. Tasters are available in all subject areas and take place throughout the year, please view the website or contact us for specific dates. It may also be possible for individuals or small groups of students to come in at other times.
Workshops - Years 9, 10 and 11
Workshops are tailored to suit individual subject areas and can take place in school. This may be as part of a Careers day, PSHE lesson or as a lunchtime session. Our subject specialists will provide a practical activity which will give an insight into the course and careers available within the industry. Typical sessions might include - an art workshop, producing a mural or a 3D structure. A dance/improvisation workshop, screwdriver challenge, napkin folding, etc
College Visits and Tours - Year 10 and 11
We can arrange for individuals or groups of students and teachers to visit the college to have a tour of the campus. This is a great opportunity for students to view the classrooms, workshops and on-site facilities. Students will also have a chance to ask questions and will go away with a ‘bag of goodies’.
Presentations - Year 10 and 11
We can visit your school to give a presentation about the College in general or we can tailor our presentations to suit individual subject areas. Our subject specialists are also able to offer presentations on working in different employment sectors.
Careers Conventions and Parents Evenings - Year 9, 10 and 11
We are always available to attend Parents Evenings and Careers Conventions to provide Information, Advice and guidance about the opportunities on offer at Shrewsbury College.
Help with Applications - Year 11
Our School Liaison Team are able to offer application help and support either to groups of students or individuals as part of a ‘drop in’ session.
Student Ambassador Visits - Year 10 and 11
To give a student perspective on College life our student ambassadors are available to come out to your school to talk to students and answer any questions they might have.
Arts and Skills Festival - Years 9 and 10
Every Summer, Shrewsbury College holds an Arts and Skills Festival to showcase the achievements of their students. This usually includes dance and drama performances from our Performing Arts students and a Fashion Show with outfits, designed, made and showcased by our Fashion Students. All these events are supported by students from Hairdressing and Beauty, Media and Catering. In addition The Art School at Shrewsbury College holds an end of year Art Exhibition open to all. These events are open to schools and the matinee performances are free of charge.
