An alternative to A Levels and sixth form

at Shrewsbury College

Shrewsbury College offers students considering sixth form college an alternative. Although we offer A Levels via distance learning, many Shropshire school leavers choose to study vocational programmes here at College rather than A Levels at a sixth form. Our vocational training covers a wider range of subject areas and tends to be more practical than A Levels might be, and often includes a period of work experience.

These courses also tend to be more assignment based and may not involve exams which can suit some students.

Like A Levels, vocational courses such as an Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A Levels) provides access to university but they can also lead to employment.
