Shrewsbury College students raise hundreds for Hope House through festive fundraising
Hair & Beauty students at Shrewsbury College have spent the week fundraising for Hope House through an array of festive pamper treatments and other activities.
The total raised was nearly £500 and it was handed over to Lynsey Kilvert, Area Fundraiser for Hope House Children’s Hospice infront of the College Christmas tree on Friday.
On Tuesday, Level 3 Massage students from the College’s Evolve Training Academy put on an ‘Evening of Indulgence’.
For £15 they offered a luxury full body massage with complimentary glass of Prosecco and strawberries, and raised £310 with proceeds going to Hope House.
Helen Jackson, from Shrewsbury, attended the event and said: “It was really good value and for a really good cause. I thought it would be a nice thing do to help me wind down for Christmas while supporting a local charity at the same time. My treatment was very good – I was the students’ first client but she wasn’t nervous and I would definitely return to the academy. I hope to go back in January.”
On Friday, Hair students made a £1 donation to wear Christmas jumpers for the day and the Level 3 students offered discounted £5 hair appointments for a party hair-up or blow-dry and also held a raffle for a giant teddy bear. Activities raised £233.
Lynsey Kilvert said: “I came to the pamper day myself with a few friends and it was a brilliant evening and such good value, Evolve Training Academy is a great experience and I would recommend anyone to try the service offered by students there. On behalf of Hope House, we are really grateful for the fantastic amount the students have raised.”
