Music Technology Students present end of year Music Event’
Music students from Shrewsbury College are inviting members of the public to attend a live music event at a popular Shrewsbury venue, later this month.
The end of year showcase, which is free to attend, will take place on Wednesday, 24 June at 7pm, at The Hole in the Wall, Shrewsbury. The event will include music from live bands, acoustic performances and DJ sets - all of which will showcase a range of genres and professional techniques.
Rob Wear, Music Lecturer at the College said: “This is the Level 3, second year students’ final event and their whole year of work has built up to the end of year showcase. It’s a chance for our students to put everything they’ve learnt into practice, in a real live music environment.
“There will be a mix of covers and original music, so there should be something for everyone. It promises to be a great night, so we hope members of the public will drop in and support our local, up and coming talent.”
CDs of music produced by the students throughout the year, will be available to purchase on the night
Level 3 Music Technology student, Ed Brown, 19, from Baschurch, said: “I’m really looking forward to the gig. I really enjoy performing to live audiences, something I’ve had plenty of opportunities to do throughout the year. I think we’re all eager to show everyone what we’ve been working on over the past year.
“The event will follow our awards evening, where we have Martin Blunt, the bassist from the Charlatans attending and giving out awards – which is really exciting. When I leave the course I’m going to university to study Music Performance Management and I think the course here at the College has really prepared me for the next step.”
