Shrewsbury College is pleased to announce that another bid for capital funding by The Education Funding Agency has been successful.

In June the College made a joint bid for the Demographic Growth Fund with Severndale Special School for a £1million grant.

The grant will fund an exciting new building to be used by students with learning difficulties from both the College and Severndale School, and will enhance the existing links between the two educational institutions.

Chris Davies, Head Teacher at Severndale School said “Our working relationship with the college has strengthened over the last 2 years and we are delighted that this grant will improve opportunities for all students."

The new facility, which the College hopes will begin work in early 2014, will be located at the Main Campus on London Road.

Final details about who will be contracted to carry out this latest build have yet to be finalised, although the College have stated they would prefer to use local contractors.

John Owen, Vice Principal Resources & Finance said “We are delighted that the College has been able to secure some more funding to further develop its facilities. This means we can provide students of all abilities with appropriate study and learning areas.”
