New Principal for Shrewsbury College
Mr Wain takes over from former Principal Greg Molan, who retired last week following nine years at the College.
“I am thrilled to have joined Shrewsbury College as the new Principal,” said Mr Wain. “I can see that the College has many significant strengths and I’ve been very impressed with the staff and students I have met so far. The Governors are ambitious for the college and the wider community and I’m looking forward to achieving their ambitions over the next few years.”
Mr Wain was appointed following a comprehensive selection process involving Governors, students and staff. He has more than 20 years’ experience in further education, which started in West London in the early 1990s. He then spent nine years at Gloucestershire College, progressing from Section Leader to Director of Learning Technologies. Between 2004 and 2006, he was Director of Curriculum, Performance and Standards at Stroud College and in 2007, took up his first Principal’s post at St Vincent College in Gosport, a town where he had lived as a child.
The outgoing Principal, Greg Molan, said: “The last nine years seem to have gone very quickly. It has been a privilege to work with such a great bunch of staff and I am very proud to have been part of all they have achieved.”
“Further Education colleges make such a positive contribution to our society and improve so many lives and Shrewsbury College is no exception,” he concluded.
