Explanation of Qualifications
Below is a guide to the Higher Level qualifications currently offered at Shrewsbury College.
Professional Qualifications
Many of our courses are recognised professional qualifications. These include ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives), AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), and CACHE (The Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education). These courses are often available from level 2 to level 6
HND and Degree Courses
You can get a degree at Shrewsbury College. To find out more about the range of courses available order a copy of our Higher Education prospectus. Applications for a higher education courses should be made through UCAS, the University Admissions System. Our UCAS institution code is S23.
The College also offers one-year Access to Higher Education course designed for those aged over 21 who want to get into Higher Education but lack formal qualifications.
Foundation Degrees
On completion students can top up with a full degree
Combine academic education with work experience and work-based learning. Students can study full-time (includes work placement) or part-time (in employment). Often designed with employers / sectors to identify and address specific skill requirements. Aimed at:
- Those with Level 3 qualifications (NVQ or BTEC) or WBL students, or Access students wanting a progression route into HE / university,
- Companies wishing to invest in their employees
- Individuals looking for a career change - or wanting to return to work
