Restaurant and Skills Kitchens
Origins is a contemporary, commercially run and licensed restaurant at Shrewsbury College. Origins restaurant gives students the opportunity to work in a professional environment, stay in touch with industry trends and have their culinary expertise recognised at national competitions.
Led by qualified, experienced chefs and front of house professionals, students learn about the principles of cookery, compatibility of flavours, food service and complementary wines. The restaurant menu represents amazing value for money and reflects the fact that food is prepared and served by students who are overseen by chef lecturers.
Theme nights and events featuring music, drama and world cuisine feature in its calendar and there is plenty of free parking.
Origins seats 82 or can take 120 standing. The restaurant can be hired for business breakfast meetings, lunch, dinner, charity events, gala dinners, weddings, funerals or other similar events.
Helen Knight from Macmillan Cancer Support, said:
“I was delighted to host my Macmillan Volunteer Rally at Origins. We had a two course lunch which was served to us by the students, who all did a grand job. The staff at Origins are always so hospitable and keen to oblige. A great venue, with handy parking for our volunteers.”
The College offers two new industry-standard commercial training kitchens for hire. If you are a business or organisation looking for the perfect facility to train your staff in food production or hygiene, or a catering or cooking business looking for a place to hold workshops or seminars - our two, large training kitchens with state-of-the-art workstations and visual technology are available for hire from a few hours, weekends or for longer periods.

Hatchers Solicitors LLP used the kitchens for ‘The Great Shropshire Business Bake off’, they said::
“We arranged for 18 business teams to take part in a charity event in the Skills Kitchens and we found the event easy to organise and the facilities perfect for everyone to enjoy the challenge and have a go at baking. After the baking rounds we moved downstairs to Origins Restaurant for the judging and evening reception. It was a great day for everyone and I was thrilled with the service at Shrewsbury College.”
