Apply

There are different application processes, depending on the mode and level of study of your chosen subject. Please use the following guidelines, dependent on your type of course:

Full-time & Apprenticeship Courses

Central Admissions deal with all full-time and Work Based Learning applications. If you are interested in joining our College, the first step is to view the full-time courses on this site or request a prospectus.

Once you have seen the range of courses on offer, at different levels, you are encouraged to apply (by February). If you require more information on the College, you may want to attend one of our Advice Sessions. An Application Form is contained within the Full-time Prospectus, or available online.

Part-time Courses

Some of our more advanced courses may have a minimum qualification for entry and you may need to attend an interview to help us assess your suitability to join the course - this will be clear in the key information listed for each course.

Some courses also require you to complete an application form prior to enrolment. Please ring 01743 342333 to see if your course requires an application form. Forms can be downloaded here.

Our construction courses are very popular, and it is advised that you apply early.
Most of our part-time courses do not have any specific entry requirements and in these instances you are able to enrol at either of the College campuses from 9.30am-8pm. You will be required to pay your course fees at the time of enrolment, so please ensure that you bring an appropriate payment method with you, (as well as appropriate evidence if you are eligible to have any fees waived).

Higher Education Courses

To apply for any full time Higher Education course, either at Shrewsbury College or at another university, you will need to complete the online UCAS application form. You should apply for your place at the beginning of year 2 of your course. Your tutor will take you through the registration process.
Once you have a list of your university and course choices, go to www.ucas.com and click on the ‘Apply’ part of the site. You can then click ‘Register/ Log in’ to begin the registration process. If you are a Shrewsbury College student, you must register as a student at a college and input our buzzword: Shrewsbury2010. You can then complete the online UCAS application.

Completing the application form

You should complete each section of the form and when finished, click 'send to referee'. At this point you will be asked to input your credit or debit card details - it costs £9 to apply for 1 course or £19 for between 2 and 5 choices.
The personal statement is the most important part of the form and is used by admissions tutors to decide on the suitability of applicants for their course.
The application system opens on 1st September and ends on 15 January each year. You can apply after this deadline but your application will be classed as late. You should aim to apply as early as possible after 1st September as the most popular courses fill up quickly.

If you need any help completing your application form, Nichola Mannering is our HE & Careers Adviser. You can either make an appointment with Nichola at the Student Help Desk in Learner Services, or telephone her on 01743 342320.
