As a further education college we offer suitable university preparation programmes for international students in a predominantly UK student environment.
If you’re planning on studying at a higher level at Shrewsbury College we offer student accommodation in the centre of Shrewsbury which is close to all major public transport services, including a regular bus route to our London Road Campus.
English for Speakers of Other Languages
Our ESOL programmes will enable you to meet new people, broaden your cultural awareness and improve your language skills both for life and work. You will gain European Union approved English language qualifications that meet UK Border Agency language requirements for your visa renewal and achieve an English language qualification that is recognised by thousands of educational institutions, businesses and government departments around the world.
Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life Courses
Students take Cambridge Main Suite (KET, PET, FCE, CAE) and/or ESOL Skills for Life accreditation on completion of the course.
Student Visa Requirements
In order to qualify to come to the UK as a student you must show that you intend to study and have been accepted for an appropriate course at the College. You must also show that you are able to meet the cost of your course and maintain and accommodate yourself and any dependants without working or asking for public funds and that you intend to leave the UK when you finish your studies.
If you are a visa-national and intend studying in the UK you must apply for a student visa before arriving in the UK. If you enter on a visitor's visa you will have to return to your country to apply for a student visa as you cannot change your status in the UK.

Border Force have some materials advising students arriving in the UK on the correct documentation they need to present at passport control and making them aware of customs rules and regulations.
English Language Requirements
You need IELTS level 5.5 or equivalent to follow a BTEC National Diploma (Level 3) course. You need IELTS 6, First Certificate with A or B grade to follow a Higher National Diploma, Degree or professional course.

The fees are generally paid at enrolment. You will be required to send the non refundable deposit with your completed application form.
Part-time courses are co-funded totalling £350 plus exam fees.
Full-time courses (subject to conditions) £6,500 per year
Part-time courses cost £798 plus £88 exam fees per year
Higher Education £9250 per year

Applying to study overseas can seem like a complex procedure, but were here to make the process as straightforward as possible, below we take you through step by step.
You can apply for our courses at any time. The easiest way to apply is to download and complete our international student application form. Once you have completed the form you can email it back to email@example.com You will also need to send:
- A copy of your current passport / all visas and travel documents.
- Copies of your international qualifications, plus UK qualifications if you have them.
- Copies of any previous assigned CAS and used as part of the Tier 4 application, (if applicable).
- Reference from your current school / college / university / employer.
- Copy of English language IELTS test report from UKVI test centre.
- Copies of your bank statements dating back no more than 28 days – providing proof you have the funds to support yourself during your studies in the UK. UKVI guidelines are currently advising £1’015.00 per month, plus you have the course fees for the 1st year of your studies.
Once we have received everything from the list above you will be sent an interview date. All tier 4 students are required to attend an academic interview either in person or via Skype with the course tutor. If you are applying for a creative arts course you will need to show the tutor sketches of work from your portfolio during the Skype interview.
If you meet all of our entry requirements, you will be sent an offer letter.
In order to accept the offer on the course with Shrewsbury College – you will need to sign and return the offer of acceptance to us.
Once we have received this and no more than 3 months before the start of the course, we will be able to assign your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). You will need to make your Tier 4 application to the UKVI within 5 days of receipt of the CAS.
Please inform the admissions department as soon as your visa and letter is issued, we will require a copy of the letter that is issued to you.
You will need to arrange local accommodation before your arrival in the UK and inform us of the address and contact details of where or who you will be living with.
If you are currently overseas, before travelling you will need to inform the Admissions office of your arrival date and time.
