Entry requirements

Evidence of 'on-the-job' gas installation and/or maintenance gas work, carried out under direct supervision of competent operatives employed by a "Gas Safe" registered business will be required.

What does the course involve?

Core Gas Safety (CCN1) - initial assessment + 3 appliances + CPA1

This is a 5 day programme, consisting of 2 days training and 3 days assessment.

Choose any three appliances from the following:

CENWAT: Central Heating Boilers + Water Heaters:

HTR1: Gas Fires & Wall Heaters:

CKR1: Cookers (not range cookers):

MET1: Gas Meters:

CPA1: Gas Analyser:

This is a 5 day programme, consisting of 2 days training and 3 days assessment. Training covers: Gas legislation: Gas emergency actions and procedures: Characteristics of combustion: Ventilation: Installation of pipework and fittings: Test for soundness: Checking and/or setting meter regulations: Identification of unsafe situations: The operation and positioning of emergency isolation controls and valves: Emergency Notices and warning labels: Checking and setting Appliance Burner pressures and gas rates: The operation and checking of appliance gas safety devices and controls: Flueing standards: Flue testing.

Additional qualification

Individual appliances can be added to the Core Gas Safety course. These are £80.00 each additionally. Choose from: CENWAT: Central Heating Boilers + Water Heaters;

HTR1, Gas Fires & Wall Heaters;

CKR1, Cookers (not range cookers);

MET1, Gas Meters.

We also offer initial assessment for CCN1 as well as other plumbing courses. Please ask for further details.

How is the course assessed?

At our dedicated Gas Assessment Centre at Shrewsbury College, London Road, Shrewsbury SY2 6PR we are equipped to fully meet the latest Government guidelines and ACS domestic gas requirements.

Additional costs

Core Gas Safety (CCN1) - initial assessment + CPA1: 5 days: £790.00.

(Includes ACS registration fee).

CPA1 Gas Analyser: 1 day: £180.00

You will be required to bring with you 4 passport photos and your National Insurance No.Progression Bonus: Christmas 2017
Any existing student who progresses onto a higher level course with us in September 2017 and remains on the course until December 2017 will receive a £200 bonus. *assuming there is a progression route from your course.
